After stints with “Sirrah” and “Mid Life Crisis”, in 2000, Brian Ralston decided to go solo, picking up a monthly residency at the Mortdale Hotel which last for 14 years. Some of the patrons were aware that, by day, Brian practised as a lawyer and christened him “Self Tort” – the name stuck.
In 2006, Brian, under the name “Self Tort”, released his first album “N.I.C”, following this up in 2010 with “Tortology”.
In 2013 Brian put together a “Self Tort” band and entered the ABC’s “Exhumed” competition, winning the Sydney final at the Basement in August, 2013.
Brian Ralston’s Self Tort released an EP “Oldest Roadies On The Earth” in May, 2015 and, on 30 November, 2015 will release their newest CD “Stripped Bare” with a line-up of Rob Smith (guitar), Heather Roche (fiddle), Chris Stafford (bass), Donovan Gall (drums) and Brian Ralston (guitar and vocals). Special guest artists at the launch will be Sharlene Rainford and Ross Ward.
