Brimstone Treehouse is made up of Kit Rodgers (Vocals, Guitar, Piano); Brandon Cottongim (Bass); and Dustin West (Drums). This band creates a sound that changes with each song, and has been compared with an eclectic array of artists such as Elvis Costello, Ben Folds, and Urge Overkill. Kit Rodgers spent a decade or so touring as a solo acoustic singer/songwriter and released two albums during that time. As a solo act, Kit had the privilege of sharing the stage with such notable performers as John Mayer, Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland), Kristian Bush (Sugarland), and Shawn Mullins, to name a few. Brandon Cottongim brings energy and a unique melodic bass line to every song. Brandon's technical yet driving bass lines constantly move throughout the songs adding a different texture than is found in most rock bands. Brandon offers a background in multiple genres of music. He was a member of Torture Kitty, a punk band signed with VML Records. He was also a member of the Rumbleseat Jitters, primarily a Jazz band, and the Twilight Sentinels, a Rockabilly band. Dustin West brings a dynamic drumming style to the table and shares Brandon’s diverse musical background. A majority of Dustin’s experience has been with punk, heavy metal, and harder edged music. However, Dustin also played in the Twilight Sentinels (a Rockabilly Band), and did a stint playing in the orchestra pit for theatrical performances. Dustin was also a founding member of Boy Genius, a punk band that was signed to Tommy Boy Records. Although from different musical backgrounds, these three guys have found common ground and compliment each other to create a unique sound. You never know what the next song will sound like, but it will be well crafted, different, and will leave you wanting more.
