There might have been a time in my life before music but I don't remember it. There are pictures of me at the age of three making some sort of sound on my grandmother's old upright piano.
For years church was my sole outlet for singing onstage and I always loved that "vessel" feeling of something flowing down through me and out as I sang something that could touch someone. A church audience is a pretty tough one as they don't want to hear anything too often and everyone is stone cold sober! I could see the reaction of what I sang in peoples faces as I sang right to them so I never developed that disconnect with my audience that I see out in bars.
Three years ago I discovered The Artist way series which gets you writing 3 pages a day. After filling up three or four notebooks of writing I went back through and pull out the cool little snippets that sounded poetic and match them up together and lyric writing was born! Pretty soon songs started to just flow on occasion and sort of write themselves.
Shortly thereafter friends from the jam sessions I had participated in, invited me to sing for Crossroads Eric Clapton tribute. This is a pro level band using two agents (and currently looking for a good manager). Through the audition and rehearsal process I began to really appreciate the talent of the guys I've been working with, as I've had to stretch my abilities and opinions of what my abilities are to fit this growing and expanding band playing increasingly prestigious venues and quickly gaining raving fans!
