Bio:
A rising star in the Italian jazz world, highly talented pianist & composer, Marco Marconi, was lucky enough to have the opportunity of recording his latest CD at the Fazioli Concert Hall, Venice, in June 2010. Having listened to Marco’s other recordings, Fazioli offered Marco the chance to record Mosaico there, making him one of only a handful of Italian artists to have had this opportunity since the hall was opened in 2005. The album was launched on 23 Jan 2011 to great success and is now available on iTunes, Amazon, CdBaby & many more outlets worldwide. Marco started his musical career as a classical pianist and at just 22 he achieved his first diploma (1998) in pianoforte with maximum votes and honours from the Conservatory of Perugia, Italy. He went on to win several international competitions as a classical pianist but his career and music were moving in a different direction - jazz! Using his incredible technique and talent, Marco went on to gain a second diploma (2005) at Perugia Conservatory, this time in jazz, again with maximum votes. Studying privately with exceptional jazz pianist, Ramberto Ciammarughi, Marco developed his own sense of style & self-expression, composing his own pieces and completed a post graduate in jazz in 2008. As a composer, Marco spends much of his time writing jazz which he performs live in concert and in 2009 made his UK debut at the Cheltenham Jazz Fringe Festival to great acclaim performing his own songs & jazz standards. He released his first album, The Day Before in 2006 and in January 2011 released his second piano solo album, Mosaico. Marco originally composed many of his pieces for piano solo but formed the Marco Marconi Trio in 2007 to perform his work. In Jan 2009, the Trio released their first CD, Keep the way Clear and are currently working on a new project, recording a new album in June. The trio has taken part in two international competitions, the Mediteranean Jazz Contest (Elba Island) in July 2009 and the Barga Jazz Contest (Tuscany) in August 2010, both times finishing among the last 3 finalists.
