Strangeletter is a post-industrial rock music project based in Portland, Oregon whose influences span multiple genres, and whose sound ranges from a frenzied assault of guitars, percussion, and interstellar synths to more intimate compositions of layered strings, pianos, and computer loops, interwoven with soaring vocal melodies. Strangeletter is the vision of native Portlander Steve Bayless who as its main producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist relesed its self-titled debut album in the fall of 2009. To translate the music to the stage, Bayless assembled the musical talents of Phillip Ferrier (drums), Paul Carrigg (bass), Andy Manla (synths, loops, backing vocals), and Elina Niemelä (piano, bass), with Bayless on lead vocals and guitar. Strangeletter is currently playing shows in and around the Northwest and California, and is the West Coast’s premier up-and-coming hard rock/electronic hybrid. Their performances are an epic, cinematic experience, replete with old-school arena anthems and haunting modern pop arrangements.
