Bio:: Vocalist, songwriter, musician and sound designer Jacopo de Nicola brings forth an unique brew of styles and influences, carefully mixed into an explosive sonic cocktail. Drawing from Italian traditional songs, World Music, New Wave and Electronica, his “alternative transcendental folk” morphs into intense rhythmic songs, dreamy transcendental odysseys and introspective serenades where poignant lyrics embroider exotic sound scenarios. After performing throughout the 90s as a professional bass player in bands like new wave group The Shades of Gray, traditional Italian folk ensemble Giancarlo Corrente's Orchestra and experimental techno-jazz trio The Spacecakes, he begins writing his own music at the turn of the millennium. Jacopo lands on US soil in 2006 (San Francisco, CA) where he collaborates with numerous local musicians, performs solo, forms a band and eventually releases his first album "Mai Come Ora" (2009). Sustained and enhanced by the driven performances of his band, Mai come Ora receives remarkable feedback both from critics and the public. In addition to his live performances and songwriting, Jacopo designs sound for various artistic projects including actress/director Marilee Talkington's 45-minute theatrical sound piece titled "The Wormhole" and independent video artist Amy Hicks' films. He records his second CD after moving to the East Coast (Philadelphia, PA). "Torn in The USA" (2010) is a concept album centered on the contradictions and idiosyncrasies of contemporary life in America. Developed entirely at his home studio and mixed and mastered over the internet in collaboration with Theatre Studio (Torino, Italy), it marks a passage to a more defined and cohesive style.
