Riding the wave of her new 2014 EP “Lesson Learned,” singer-songwriter Amanda Morgan has a very promising future ahead. The Detroit native’s lush, earthy vocals, beautifully constructed melodies, heartfelt lyrics and real-life sensibilities produce a multi-dimensional artist, and at only age 20, the young performer has ambitious plans.
In 2014, the dedicated Morgan co-wrote and recorded “Lesson Learned” with internationally renowned producer Chuck Alkazian (Pop Evil, Trust Company, Soundgarden) at the revered Pearl Sound Studios in Canton, MI. Morgan earned four nominations in the 2014 Indie Music Channel Awards and the win in the category for Best Female Pop Artist with her track “Falling.” During the awards show in Hollywood, CA, Morgan was honored to perform live at the famed Whisky a Go Go, receiving great listener reaction. The emotive “Lesson Learned” was an acceleration in her growth as an artist, and she and her producer Chuck Alkazian have a great deal of plans for her future development.
Drawn to music from a very young age, Morgan already has several recording experiences behind her. In 2010, her first EP “Land of an Endless Sea,” recorded with producer Fran Cathcart, held two number one positions on WDVDfm’s Radio Cafe indie poll for the songs “Just Wanna Know Why” and “Ten Steps Back,” both songs becoming “Most Requested Song in the State” in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, Morgan recorded the single “Saturday in June” with producer David Feeny. The track featured Patrick Simmons of the Doobie Brothers on lead guitar, who held high praise for Morgan’s ability as a performer and for her future potential. In 2012, Morgan was nominated to what would become her first experience with the Indie Music Channel Awards. Nominated in four categories, she was awarded Best Young Pop Artist and had the exciting opportunity to perform at the House of Blues Los Angeles during the awards show. 2012 also brought the return of the earlier recording “Ten Steps Back,” added to Delta Airlines In-Flight music programming, exposing her music to world-wide listeners.
Morgan has appeared live on Fox TV at Michigan’s largest and most attended music and arts festival “Arts, Beats and Eats,” and in numerous online and print articles. She has performed at Arts, Beats and Eats in 2011, 2012, and 2014, the Hard Rock Cafe Detroit, Stars and Stripes as headliner in 2012, the Best of the Valley Showcase in Phoenix, AZ and at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas, among many other venues. Although she has already experienced many successes in her young career, Morgan understands that it is a road that takes not just talent, but grit, determination and drive. “I have no illusions about how hard it is to make it in the music business today and how much work it takes,” says the young artist. “For me, writing, recording and performing are my greatest passions. I’m so fortunate that my music has already brought me so many amazing experiences, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!.”
