Bio:
2024 finds Frank Porter a very busy man and loving it! He started 2024 with the release of, "Frank Porter The Instrumentals." In fact there's so much to talk about it may take a little while.

Music always has been a very important part of Frank's life. He says it saved his life. I have heard pieces of the story of his life and how he got where is today. It is about hard work, dedication and the sort of drive that many people have called inhuman. And VISION. Frank's music visions have been coming to life since 1978 or so. His first original music based band, "Demon," helped put him on the map in a big way in 1980 when the boy scouts hired, "Demon," to perform live in a church. Frank, to this day, maintains this gig proves God exists. Why? He broke 3 D strings in 2 hours which never broke before and did not continue to break afterwards. It's the 3rd one that broke that really got his and some of the crowds attention. The string, on it's own, lifted off the fretboard about 6 inches or more before it snapped violently with nobody touching it. And some of us saw it happen.

Another musician Frank told this story to recently said, "You can't buy press like that." He's not kidding. The very next school day, the three members of, "Demon," were infamous. Famous too. A lot of things happened after this gig. He was approached by a more experienced musician and songwriter in homeroom 10th grade, not terribly long after Demon played in a church. Now it's more like mythology or akin to a legend. And it is still alive even now.

Aside from placing 1st and 3rd in contests here on Indie Music Channel, he has others from places like Indie International. And one very cool one from Gibson guitars. In 2008 Gibson named Frank best lead guitarist out of 320 people from 6 states. He was 44 years old when he did this. Yes he is old. He still rocks harder than many and he's still releasing albums and singles like crazy and continues to be a working musician at age 60. One of his early bandmates, who is still alive said to Frank recently, "I admire your tenacity."

Concerning the Gibson Guitars contest and Frank taking first place, this surprised many people but not Rich Merritt or Matt Russell who both grew up around him and in some cases were in bands with him. It's a pretty tight knit group of musicians in the upstate NY of Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, and surrounding areas. He was known as Chuck Porter back then. Not sure why. It was obviously a nickname that he got rid of when ho moved to PA in 1991.

His list of releases is starting to look like a major label act in spite of his indie music approach. I am not going to list them all. Some are hard to find. I do highly recommend that you check out 2 of the albums he has released recently.

Frank Porter Live Open E Concert 3/2/2022 or something like that. This is softer and prettier and in an alternate tuning called, "open E." These are all live acoustic guitar recordings. No extra instruments. *except for on the song called, "Life Keeps Trucking Along," which is a studio recording Frank threw on the album because he thought it fit in with the other songs very nicely. Everything else is taken from a streaming concert where Frank was opening for himself by doing an open E tuning segment as the opening act portion of his live show.

This second one just came out less than a month ago. Frank Porter The Instrumentals is the title of this album. He's going to change the version of, "Hot Night in June," that is on the album after the fact. This means that the version on this one that is out right now will be replaced by the better version soon. This may cause the version that is on the album right now to become collectible. - The original mix of, "Hot Night in June." You know, the one Frank didn't like and replaced in 2024. Just a heads up.

Hey Frank, thanks for writing and saying "Hi"!

Great guitar playing, man!  I look forward to meeting you at one of our IMC events one day. Maybe you can teach me how to play something on a guitar (my lifelong dream, haha)!
