Bio:
Shaking Trees are a five piece soul/pop group, from Worcestershire.
Each member has differing musical influences, taking inspiration from rock, folk, soul and jazz, this has definitely helped define their unique and distinctive sound. The essence of Shaking Trees is about quality song writing and arrangements, performed with amazing intensity. Their aim is for an eclectic & timeless sound.
Becky's urban, yet powerful, passionate & smokey vocal delivery, is combined with phrasing that will have you hanging on every word. Intricately linked are Dan's keys, weaving an infectious & clever array of melodic hooks. Underpinned further by the capable 'backbone' of Boris's classy 'subby' bass lines, & Nigel's tight, punchy drumming, the band is enabled to build the amazing intensity that Shaking Trees are fast becoming renowned for. Quite recently the band has enjoyed regular guest appearances from brilliant saxophonist Johnny Devereux, (Cantaloop). It seems all of the necessary elements have come together perfectly here, to create something more than just another band.
Last year saw the band play numerous local gigs & festivals, and the recording of their first 4 track 'live' demo at Lanes End Studios in Shropshire. Tracks from this are consistently played on local BBC introducing radio shows, and live sessions have also ensued on local independent radio stations.
The band now have 13 original songs to date. This year Shaking Trees have recently recorded their first single 'In my head' with renowned record producer, Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden Studios.
With more gigs and festivals to follow in 2011, (Arleyfest being the most note-able wihere Shaking Trees support Seth Lakeman). Also two seperate 'live' radio sessions have been added for BBC Introducing in July & August, (one at this years Nozstock's BBC Introducing stage), and another to follow for BBC Shropshire in December! 2011 looks set to be a very busy year for Shaking Trees!
