Americana, Country Blues, Classic Rock, Folk, Gospel & Easy Listening
Bio:
Well I started songwriting back in the early seventies, whilst living in Germany, and one of my early influence's back then was Tony Joe White an American singer/ songwriter whose country blues style and brilliant storytelling knocked me out, and that's what I like to play and listen to when
I self-indulge.
Other great storytelling songwriters that have played a part in my life are Brownie McGee, David Gates, Gordon Lightfoot, Kris Kristofferson, and Carol King.
I’ve been a soldier, a truck driver, a salesman and a gardener (and a few things in between) however; songwriting seems to have survived all that; admittedly, sometimes in the background, but I’ve always found time to write.
And its funny how things turn out; when with worn out wrist joints and troublesome tendons I was forced to quit the day job, and then when worried and wondering what to do? bang; along comes an opportunity; an opportunity to write and compose songs all day long. Well I can’t shovel sand anymore and playing the guitar is still quite painful at times, however, I can tell you, I’m as happy as a child with candy.
Mainly, I only write what’s in me, as John Lee Hooker used to say, ‘it got in there, so it’s gotta come out’. I write in many styles, from folk to country blues, ballads to easy listening, rock to gospel, healing to instrumental.
