Bio:
There is but a single word that describes infectiously memorable groove, heartfelt emotion, and universal genre-transcending appeal, and that word is BASLER. A driving power trio that derives its moniker from the lead singer/guitarist's surname, BASLER is hard rocking Alternative AOR at its finest, inspired by such diverse influences as Kiss, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, Nirvana, Ray Charles, 80s metal and Motown. Lead singer/guitarist CAM BASLER, a graduate of PMC Music College and the Power Sound School of Engineering, hails from Saskatoon, SK., where he cut his teeth as a teenager in the burgeoning local scene before forming VACATION ON MARS – a top-notch touring cover band which also released three original independent CDs that continue to sell at a satisfying pace. Cam's innate knack of lyrical sensibilities combined with his unparalleled guitar abilities makes for instantly memorable songs that will have you humming along well after the last note of the night has rung through. The incendiary rhythm section of BASLER is comprised of drummer CHAD CARMICHAEL, who grew up in Prince Albert, SK. and bassist JOHN TURNBULL, from Edmonton, AB. CHAD CARMICHAEL, unassuming and meek at home but a true monster on the skins, actually started his musical journey on the guitar. But as soon as he sat behind a drum kit for the first time, it was love at first beat. Twenty years and numerous projects later (Downgrader, 43 Bone, SuperunKnown, Penny Reign, Vacation On Mars), Chad lays down a rock-solid foundation that makes it virtually impossible not to groove and dance along with. JOHN TURNBULL, a well-travelled gypsy soul and veteran of the Canadian music scene in many styles and genres, parties as hard as he pontificates and plays every note with conviction, passion and fat groove. John weaves his movie-esque life experiences (from teaching English in Thailand to living in LA to writing and pitching screenplays) into bass lines that fully complement BASLER's immense sound. BASLER's self-titled EP has already nearly-sold out of its first run while it continues to make waves on commercial radio and expand its market. BASLER is music that truly speaks of life, love and everything in between. With a massive aural assault that belies that there are only three instrumentalists, BASLER stands to be the voice of generations past, present and future. If music is the highway to your soul, then BASLER is your road map. Cam describes his latest work with typical humility, “Alone is an album of breakup songs, relationship endings and a lot of pain... where you end up alone, and hurt.  Since this was my solo project, I thought it was appropriate that I would call it Alone... I’d been dealing with ups and downs with a major relationship, and the dynamics of trying to get over someone and having them not need you anymore – or having them find someone else... So I was going through all of that personal hell and anyone who’s been through it knows what it can be like...” Cam BASLER has come out the other end of a long dark tunnel and is looking forward to getting on the road to promote his album. “I’m looking forward to playing this very personal music for people. Making this album gave me an avenue to focus all this intense energy I had onto something positive... I think that all of the songs end with a positive note... although they do have more of a sombre tone, I hope people can hear both sides...”
