Belmont Lights is a pop/rock band from San Diego, CA, formerly known as The Pennant. After 2 years of playing shows throughout the west coast, and releasing two EPs (“Soon Enough” 2010 & “Sparrow” 2011) under the name, The Pennant, the band gained attention from numerous industry professionals who advised them that a name change would be best for a mainstream appeal. In 2012 they became known as, Belmont Lights.
Isaiah Blas and Casey Peek were friends throughout high school, playing on Horizon High’s sports teams together.
Though they were close friends during their high school careers, neither knew about the other’s interest in music until College.
During Christmas break, Isaiah came home from his University in Oklahoma and he and Casey began to collaborate and write songs together. After a few open mics and coffee shop shows, they met local musician, Oscar Gonzalez who later began playing drums for them. In 2009, Isaiah entered San Diego’s Songwriting Competition and won 1st place and an opportunity to play main stage at the House of Blues with a full band. He, Casey and Oscar called on the talents of Casey’s younger brother, Jed Peek to fill in on bass for this show. After the show, the guys realized they had a great chemistry and decided to make this their permanent band.
In February of 2012, Belmont Lights began recording their debut EP at the historic, Westlake Studios in Los Angeles, CA. Later that year in July, the band made their official launch as Belmont Lights with the release of "Telegraphs [EP]".
