Basik is an educator, activist, and performance artist from Chicago, Illinois. He is a graduate of Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts and received a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts with a double concentration in Literature and Education Studies. He participated in Sekou Sundiata’s America Project and America is in the Room courses his senior year at Lang. Following graduation he worked as the program coordinator for the Union Square Partnership Education Program at Washington Irving High School in New York City. The following year, he taught high school English Composition, World Literature and Arts in Context at Christ the King Jesuit College Prep in Chicago. He is currently the program facilitator for the Chicago Park District’s T.R.A.C.E (Teens Re-imagining Art Community and Environment) Program. He is also currently a performance artist with the Chicago based label G3 records, an up and coming independent hip hop music label with global digital distribution.
