London’s own alternative/rock band Metro4 is quickly gaining momentum as a band poised for breakout success. From beginnings in London’s alternative scene just a few years ago, Metro4 has already made their mark with songs on Bruce Sakow's (Friday The 13th -The Final Chapter) award winning feature film, The Camera's Eye, as well as the CMT reality show, Unstable.
Metro4 delivers a unique style, with upbeat songs characterized by very catchy melodies and guitar lines delivered by lead singer/guitarist Jason Mercer (singer/songwriter winner of the 2008 London Music Award), supported by the equally strong melodic bass lines of Danny Dubé, the driving rhythmic guitars and vocals of Daniel
Di Febo, and backed last but not least by the rock-solid Ryan Kriz on drums and vocals.
Following the release of their self-titled EP in 2009, Metro4 grabbed slots on stage with Stone Temple Pilots, Our Lady Peace, The Trews, 54-40, Sloan, Crash Karma and The Stills. The band headed back into the studio in 2010 and recently released their second effort, Day One. Recorded by local engineer Siegfried Meier, and mixed by Dan Brodbeck (2010 Juno Award winning Recording Engineer of the Year for his work on Dolores O-Riordan’s (The Cranberries) album ‘No Baggage’), the album is quickly getting industry notice, being played on radio stations across Canada and the U.S. including London's FM96, My FM, Free FM, Exploremusic(with Alan Cross) and CBC radio’s Fresh Air. Their rising popularity and enthusiastic fan base is evidenced by over 46,000 MySpace fans and the status of reaching #1 on the Canadian MySpace Charts. This has earned them performances in 2011 alongside The Tragically Hip, Joel Plaskett, The Arkells, Sloan and 54-40 propelling them quickly up the ranks to become one of Canada's finest bands of 2011 and beyond.
Columnist James Reaney of the London Free Press writes:
"Metro4's fine new album, Day One, is among the Spring pleasures of 2011".
With an alternative feel inspired by the likes of Keane, Interpol, Coldplay, and Goo Goo Dolls, the group brings a rare European vibe. They pack emotion into their collaboratively written, powerful lyrics and bring a tight, energetic live show that they simply love performing. Light at heart but deep in substance, you may not dance, but you will certainly feel our music!
