- Songwriter Derek Lee Bishop, of Raeford North Carolina, has been performing music since he was a child. The 29 year old classically trained guitarist and pianist began his musical career playing at coffee shops throughout southwest Missouri. His music can typically be described as confessions put to song, with stirring lyrics and calming melodies which touch on spirituality, hope, forgiveness, fatherhood and love. Bishop's unique finger style approach to guitar playing and hushed, restrained vocals give him a sound all his own, while simultaneously recalling artists such as Iron and Wine and William Fitzsimmons.
