Eirwen Skye has such a dominant personal style that it's difficult to understand why she's not travelling the country with her own headlining show. Her voice was absolutely gorgeous, echoing Cat Power's breathy and heavy vocals...there is no doubt that soon she will have an entire audience dedicated to her haunting and powerful performance." (Drum Media) Eirwen Skye grew up in the shadows of hymns and country ballads. Having studied music of the renaissance and baroque at the Sydney Conservatorium, she turned her hands to composing songs to bring the music of the heavens closer to the jazz and blues sounds that come from deep beneath the earth using loops of recorder, melodica, voice, guitar and hands. Having recently supported artists such as Tim Rogers, The Jezabels and Skipping Girl Vinegar, Eirwen Skye continues to work on new recordings to be released very soon.
