Erik Göransson is a Swedish born songwriter, guitarist and vocalist who wrote his first song 'Choices' at the age of 19, but it was not until 2001, after living in the musically inclined city of San Diego, that he once again picked up his guitar filled with new inspiration. He headed back to Sweden in 2002, eager to put these ideas onto tape. After two years of writing, singing and recording in his hometown of Stockholm, he decided to take his music on the road again, this time to Barcelona, Spain. In the Catalan capital, Erik has been captivating audiences with his live performances. These shows, played in numerous local venues as well as busking the streets, have brought together Catalan, Spanish and foreign residents and tourists in search of his voice one gig after another. Two of these magical nights were recorded and later released as the albums 'Live!'(2006) and 'Live at Ácoma'(2007). Recently, he has had two of his songs 'I Fall Down' and 'There Was You' featured in the Spanish film 'Adrenalina'. In the fall of 2009, accompanied by other fine local musicians, Erik strummed onto the scene with the release of his debut studio album, 'These Will Be The Days', at Sala Luz De Gas in Barcelona. The album of 12 original songs is a reflection of personal experiences and encounters from a man who sees himself as a citizen of the world. "There are lots of little instrumental textures and quirks that you only really notice after a few spins," Erik says. "I wanted this record to seem really simple when you first listen to it but then the more you play it, the more you discover. Hopefully people will feel like it's one of those albums that's worth playing a few times." His words are true, Erik succeeds in striking a harmonious balance between soulful lyrics and irresistible melodies. At its core lies that enticing simplicity which deepens effortlessly with each listening. Erik’s warm, serene voice and charismatic on-stage personality call to mind artists such as Tracy Chapman and Ray LaMontagne. Combined with his acoustic guitar, smoky vocals and humble sincerity, Erik Göransson is one folkie star whose music and performances are sure to leave no one untouched!
