Joey was a member of Sinister Prank who signed with Misc. Records in the 90’s. With influences ranging from Hendrix to Vai to BB King to Gary Busey, Joey is an inferno burning inside of Shovelbelt. Jay Briles Bass. Jay's influences include Metallica, C.O.C., Sabbath, Megadeth, Neil Young, and Buddy Guy. Jay adds the thick and tasty low end to the Shovelbelt sound. J.J. Tantillo Drummer, Backing Vocals. J.J. is the foundation on which the mighty Shovelbelt rests it’s ample backside. A former Jeff Campitelli(Joe Satriani) student, J.J.’s influences range from James Brown to Faith No More to Pantera. J.J. is Shovelbelt’s big-block engine. Matty D Guitar Playa & backing vocals. Multi-instrumentalist, blues extraordinaire, & metal shredder. Hailing originally from the swamps of South Florida and a veteran of the metal/hardcore scene, playing with Domain, What Wishes Can’t Mend, & the infamous noise-core band: Diaper Rash. Matty D is also a graduate from none other than Boston’s finest, Berklee College of Music. After spending many years in the land of the rising sun (Japan), Matty recorded and played extensively in the Philadelphia/ NYC area prior to settling here in Bend, Oregon. He’s also veteran of the NY Songwriters Circle known for his acoustic slide and guitar-layering. These days Matty D is now finally getting back to his roots with hard rock/metal driving it home with Shovelbelt... This ain’t your Mom’s Rock’N’Roll...!!!
