halfEVEN began with James Nyers, a tradesman with the singular dream of one day forming a band and playing live shows. He learned to play the keyboard early on and eventually became a competent guitar playing songwriter. As the year's passed, he slowly accumulated a healthy body of work and began looking for like-minded musicians to form a band. Enter Chuck McQuade, an English born lead guitar player, who made Jim's acquaintance through a local website. Through common influences, the two formed a strong musical connection and would meet regularly to jam. These crude sessions, however productive, were lacking the rock energy they wanted. The auditory space was easily filled with the recruitment of Andrea Illes, as the group's drummer. Andrea, like Jim, has Hungarian roots and developed a love for music while living there. As a trio, Jim's ideas were evolving into more complex and enjoyable songs. Meanwhile, cut to another London, Ontario neighbourhood to see Joshua L. Hill, a 90's grunge fueled bassist, scanning the web ads for the right band. The calming vocals on a primitive version of Jim's 'The Otherside' lured Josh to an initial meeting which ended in success. The group collaborated on a number of tracks for quite a while. They became discouraged because they only sounded 'good,' and it was apparent that they needed more variety and power from the vocals. They waved their flag and were rescued by the final member. Patrick Bonnamie is a rocker from Montreal with 20 years and 250 songs under his belt. Once on board, Patrick's vocal prowess made the picture complete and gave everyone renewed hope and energy to develop complete songs, some of which are available to you here on Reverbnation. Please enjoy... responsibly.
