The Death Notes are a female fronted alternative rock band from Nottingham, England. The bands first release was a self titled 5 track EP on Sonic Disruptor Records released in October 2009. Sweeping the Nation described the bands sound as “Siouxsie Sioux fronting the (second album) Horrors” elsewhere the bands sound has been compared with Joy Division, The Pixies, Sonic Youth and Warpaint. 2010 ended with the release of the bands first single In the Spiders Web a track that received glowing reviews in the music press and started a real buzz in the blogger community. The track was picked up for airplay on radio stations across the world and in the UK got played by Mike Joyce (The Smiths, 6Music) on his radio show. In the Spiders Web also found its way into a number of end of year best tracks of 2010 lists. 2011 is already shaping up to be a great year for the Nottingham band. The band have already played support for Sad Day for Puppets on their UK tour. Their second single Obsession is due for release in May and they are currently writing and recording material for there first full length album which will be released in the Autumn. The band have recently confirmed slots at two high profile music festivals later in the year.
