Johanna is a native Houstonian, with a musical background that traces back to to her early childhood. She began paino lessons at around 6 years of age. In Johanna's early teens she discovered a love for muiscal theatre, and performed frequently all over Houston. It was not until 2003 when she met Don Russell now husband and local houston musician that she discovered her song wiriting ability. They together formed a band The Ne Plus Ultra in 2006. While Johanna is still going strong in The Ne Plus Ultra, Johanna's musical influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and all things from the "Golden Age". Johanna is simply put, and old soul.
