Joe was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, on March 2nd. When he was a mere eleven years old, Joe found interest in playing the guitar and mandolin and parlayed that interest by jamming with bluegrass bands and musicians. He continued playing bluegrass music throughout his high school years and was one of the original members of the Wheeling Park High School Bluegrass Band. The band toured throughout the eastern part of the United States, playing many festivals. They performed bluegrass shows like the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards in Louisville, Kentucky with Ricky Skaggs and at the historic Capital Music Hall in Wheeling many times. After forming the band Coaltrain with Chris Denham, Joe had the perfect opportunity to blend all of his musical influences, country, bluegrass, rock and folk to help form the bands sound. Joe's guitar playing skills and vocals have risen by far throughout his journey. His musical influences range from the Grateful Dead and Jim Croce to Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, Waylon Jennings and AC/DC. Joe parted ways with Coaltrain in 2009 and is working on a solo project.
