Fifth Friend, a band comprised and raised from the ashes of various jam’s and classes in an around the Victorian Collage of the Arts, is one of Melbourne’s newest rock and roll bands. Fifth Friend describe themselves as Dark Psychedelica, and have been known to have been called, “a bunch of free-jazz musicians, who have listened to a lot of rock, playing rock and roll tunes”. Between the members of Fifth Friend is a wide range of musical influences from Charles Mingus to Muse, to Virgil Donati, to Bill Frisell, amongst a million other things, and Fifth Friend use this range to leave no stone unturned in their attempt to put on a blistering and mind-boggling performance.
