An intriguing mixture of Texas Blues tinged with rock and jazz, Navasota, Texas’s Tubie & the Touchtones specializes in original music that can make you laugh out loud one minute and cry the next. Frontman Tubie Pusheé has been dubbed “the new ambassador of Texas blues” by local and regional media, and the music is replete with his trademark Texas drawl vocal delivery and sweet and smoking guitar. This is the Blues, Texas Style, very much in the vein Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, and Johnny Winter. RadioIndy.com has described their sound as "...blues expression at its best..."
The band has released 4 CDs; releases by Tubie include 2007's debut 'Just Can't Believe It', followed by 2008's 'The Lone Star Blues' and 2009's 'Blue with Envy'. The latter two releases both garnered nominations in the annual Texas Music Awards. In 2012, the band released "When the Rubber meets the Road", characterized by Tubie's quick, innovative lead guitar work complemented by Michael Gaskin's raucous sax, Clay Failla's powerful drumming, and tasteful bass and keyboards by Les Morey.
The band has become a fixture in their hometown of Navasota, which has been officially proclaimed as the Blues Capital of Texas by the state legislature. In fact, the band has twice played in the Texas State Capitol rotunda during legislative sessions to commemorate the heritage of Texas Blues.
