Olubode Afuape was born in June 7th, 1992. By the age of four he demonstrated his ability to sing. He joined his school chorus at P.S. 22 and has used every opportunity to sing since then. From then on, he was referred to as a “star”. By the age of nine, he had performed for New York’s Mayor Bloomberg, The Copacabana in Manhattan, and many restaurants while still attending elementary school. For the next four years in I.S. 51, Afuape was unable to use his singing talents due to no available choruses. It was during this time where he was diagnosed and struggled with the life-threatening disease, Endocarditis. He spent six months of his life in the hospital fighting the devastating ailment. After he won his battle with the illness, he believed God had given him a second chance at life and had since then dedicated his life to making music. Since his commitment to music, Afuape struggled trying to think of a stage name but realized that it’s best if it came to him naturally. Since everyone called him “Buddy” or “Bo-day” he decided he'd mix the two and came up with “Bu'Day”. Afuape had self-taught himself since he was unable to obtain singing lessons. He learned to sing efficiently and after his first hit remix for Drake’s "Miss Me" produced by his brother Yemi “YumYum” Afuape, he steadily started to soar back into the spotlight. This year, 2010, Bu'Day joined the Future-Era team where he can make music with fellow artists and get more opportunities to work with other musical artists.
