Peter James Esau is one bundle of energy, inspiration and no bull…. performance that comes straight from the heart! Peter was born into a church-going choir singing strong family background, but don’t let that put you off! As a kid, he’d sneak, no, break into, his home church, to sing & play for the local girls on the piano! His parents further encouraged him to add drums & percussion to his foremost piano-playing talents (add to that a little guitar later) and at age 12 he notched up his credibility rating by winning his schools talent contest with an original song he wrote and sang and overnight went from being unpopular to the kid who YOU needed to hang out with! Every spare cent he had went into demo studios and developing his music, namely melody, playing, arranging and performing. His lyrics are straight to the point, uncomplicated and he collaborates with other lyric writers, example; Kelley Klassen and Jovans Thelusma to add a new dimension to his music. His influence range from Sting to Bob Marley or Miles Davis and Green Day, amongst others, he loves harmonies, and draws his inspiration from artists such as Take 6 and Manhattan Transfer. His original-penned songs range from rock, pop, latin, reggae, rap and smooth jazz to a sweet soul flava! Career History: Via early studio sessions, Peter researched Saddlestone Records and published some of his music under The Peter James Band, who were by then touring throughout British Columbia. Choosing to leave the band to expand his horizons further, British Columbian Band Hall of Fame invited him to join them after hearing some of his original songs. Whilst with Hall of Fame, he wrote “Irie” (from the album Roxy Roller), which charted Number 35 in the Canadian charts. A few years earlier his ‘Rock ya Never Stop Ya’ went to Number 40 in Las Vegas. After feeling he’d gone as far as he could with Hall of Fame, he started touring with bands internationally, mainly Asia & the Middle East. For 9 months he worked for a Recording Studio I Thailand producing techno remixes of classic songs and produced music for corporate videos and events. For 10 years he continued writing and performing internationally throughout Korea, Singapore and Thailand (where he is now based). In late 2009 Peter joined well-known international cover band who are popular not only for their outstanding musicianship but the energy and ‘show’ side of their performance. With Cinderella Rockafella, Peter brings his experience as a solo artist, where he sings lead & harmonies, raps, plays keys, drums and percussion and manages to be assertive and influential without upsetting the equilibrium of the band. Peter’s mantra is ‘connect to the crowd and challenge the most ardent wallflower to have a good time!’ His essence is be sincere, straight to the point and when you’re on stage.. own it!!
