Bio:
I have been a huge fan of music my whole life. I grew up in near Sacramento California. I tinkered with the guitar a little in High School, but never got to where i could play a song the whole way thru. I got married and had a couple of kids. The guitar went in the closet and i didnt touch it for some 20 plus years. When my son turned 15 he wanted a Guitar. We baught him a cheap acoustic Guitar and he came out of his bedroom 6 months later playing like a little Stevie Ray Vaughn. That got me interested in playing again. My son Tynan taught me some chords and how to plaay some Blues chords. I played rythm behind his lead and vocals. About 2 years after this i got a divorce. I had way too much time on my hands so i started going to the open jams and learning how to play a little better. I went home one night and wrote my first song. (Till Death Do Us Part). It is a simple tune, not too many changes. I showed it to the host band and played it with a band for the first time. I was blown away. They nailed it. I could not believe that it sounded as good as it did. I went home and started to write. I was going to 2 and 3 jams a week trying to practice and learn more about playing music. I kept writing and learning how to put a song together. I started to get people coming up to me and telling me they liked the tune and wanted to play next time i got up. That is where i met the members of my Band. They were all accomplished musicians, unlike me. But i had lots of Heart and no fear, (maybe just too dumb). My Gutar Player Mick Valentino sort of took me under his wing.He taught me about being on stage. The do's and dont's. I even figured out what a 1-4-5 was. So little by little i have gathered some great musicians. I was talking with Taj mahal after getting off of a music cruise with him. I asked him to show me a song that he did. He looked at me and in his Taj mahal voice said, man i don't play that i hire people to play that. That is when I saw that music was very similar to most any skill or job. If you want a good house. Hire good Carpenters. If you want a good band. Hire great Musicians. But you hae to be able to play, because those great Musicians care about the music more than the money. If you cant play . They are not going to be there with you , looking like a fool. So here i am really only learning to play at 45 years old. That has been 8 years now, and 4 years of singing and writing. I truly love playing and think that i have an ability to write a decent song. My vocals are not the greatest, but i think they are unique. Hell Bob Dylan wouldnt win a singing contest. I have my two grown kids and two Grandkids now. I am slowly building the music thing up and will continue to keep writing and playing.
