Project started by Steve Jacobson, former member and co-founder of the NorCal Death Metal Band FORSAKE THE FLESH. Steve moved to Erie, PA in 2007....which gave him the opportunity to start work on his own project that has been brewing for years. REQUIEM FOR OBLIVION is a 'hybrid metal' concept project/CD based on his years struggling with inner demons (i.e. drugs, booze, depression, self-destruction in almost every form) and the years since silencing those demons... Helping him with the recording process and the first to join the "live" version of RFO is drummer Mike Bryan, who ironically, moved to Erie from Reno just a month prior to Steve moving there. Through a twist of fate they were put together and so far a 6 song demo is available now, a two song EP about to be released, and a full length to be (hopefully) released by late 11. A revolving door of local musicians guest appear for local and regional shows. Together, the band’s mix of ambient, progressive metal provide their audience with a dynamic musical experience reminiscent of Opeth, Between The Buried And Me, Agalloch, Daylight Dies and My Dying Bride. In addition, there are some acoustic steel and classical string sequences alongside mostly ghostly, clean vocals with some guttural moments from time to time. RFO has played a show hosted by Metal Sanaz and has shared the stage with national and regional acts such as Mushroomhead, Kriadiaz, Ventana, Here Lies Another, Demons Within, and Scarwork. Plus, the band has been known to play acoustic versions of their songs at many of the local venues around the Erie area. A six song demo is currently available on various sites and the songs can be obtained for free by joining our email list. In addition, epic two song EP will be released in Feb or Mar of 2011. Stay tuned! The first song, Godbuilder has been posted on a few sites listed below and has been getting rave reviews thus far!
