In 2006, long-time friends Colin Healy and Jake Bauman decided to launch their first band together. Their name was THE REPUBLIK! The Republik's first album "Last Chance Planet," released in 2007, features bassist Jake and singer/songwriter/guitarist Colin. In 2008, the line-up of the band changed. Alberto Pizarro had met Healy and Bauman at Bethune Elementary as a child and was brought in full time as a lead guitarist as well as a new drummer, Beau Million who was a very accomplished musician at the time of joining the band. The Republik quickly got to work on a new album entitled "The Unexpected Answer," and released the final product in March 2010. Radio play, festivals, benefits and bars filled in on The Republik's repertoire and people never left a show unsatisfied. Inspired by a vast range of music from Dave Matthews Band and Rage Against the Machine to Tool and Primus, The Republik brings a lot to the table as far as diversity is concerned. Unfortunately, Beau Million left the band in 2010 forcing The Republik to hunt for a drummer. During this gap of drummers the band was able to step back and focus on maturing musically, allowing the three remaining members to become tighter with one another. But in 2011, with the audition and acceptance of Kyle Roberts as the bands newest drummer, The Republik flourished musically and continues to draw in crowds with their lyrics, music and sexy looks.
