The band consists of André (vocals & guitar), Daniel (guitar), Johann (drums) and Øyvind (bass). We started playing together in January/February 2007. During the fall of 2009 we had a couple of line up changes. Øyvind (bass player) could no longer be in the band. We got a new bass player for about 4 weeks, but he had to quit because it was too far of a distance to travel to/from rehearsal. So we got yet another bass player, but he only played with us for about 1 or 2 weeks. We had 2-3 weeks break, then we called up our old bass player and asked him to join us again, he accepted and was glad to be back. Since then we have been together and we are still the original line up now (August 2010). We've had different bandnames, but we quickly realized none of these names represented us as a band. So after some brainstorming André came up with "Devotion For Variety". This name represents what we are going for with our music. We love all kinds of music, we listen to everything! We like variety! Not only in music, but in life. It makes things more interesting. Since the name change we have been more inspired than ever. We started to have more fun with music and experiment with different sounds instead of trying to copy someone else’s sound. We are what most people will call a metal band, but we won't call ourselves a full-blooded metal band. We are mostly inspired by artists such as Metallica, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, but we are also inspired by softer music. We are music lovers through and through, and we think that people should dig what they dig! (February 2011) Just finished recording our first demo. The demo consists of 4 songs. "The Internal Flame", "I Hate You", "Blood Bound" and "Save Me". What does the future hold for Devotion For Variety? We don't know yet, but our dream is to play our music for a living.
