Moving the Right Way, or, the Falling Andes Story.
Dan Peluso and Jordan Wood had crafted a catchy, popular song in 2011's San Francisco. Then came quality reviews by independent press and growing anticipation as the single circulated. Indie music blogs, which had written so lavishly about the song, couldn't wait for more from this band that wasn't yet a band.
And then it was.
Peter-Michel Natishan and Mike Boyer came on board and things went into overdrive. First up, Brooklyn's legendary Knitting Factory and livestream.com feature, followed by NYC's National Underground and Chicago's Elbo Room in support of 2011's well received Frantic EP - answering the indie buzz with a record full of hooks, melodic synth-pop textures and distinctive vocals. Press and indie music blogs such as College Magazine, The Indie Kollection, Indie Rock Cafe, The Burning Ear, 411 Mania and The Music Court raved, giving an emphatic thumbs-up. European web-based radio dug in with Portugal's Insomnia Radio and London-based Recharged Radio leading the charge, featuring the band in regular rotation. North American giants Pandora caught on, putting the band into rotation in late 2011. American independent and college radio, such as Richmond, VA's WRIR, Columbus, OH's WXCU and Pittsburgh, PA's WXDX, WPTS, WPPJ and WDSR are now discovering the Andes... and loving them.
As 2011 fades into 2012, the Andes are closing out the year with a return to Chicago's Elbo Room, then retreating to the studio for their next, anticipated release slated for March 2012. Keep and eye and ear open - when the Falling Andes machine rolls into your town, don't miss the experience. Tune in, read up and discover for yourself. Get hip to what people are starting to figure out: these guys are good.
Really good.
