Derrick “DC” was born in Columbus,Ohio. He showed an interest in music and the arts at an early age. The 80’s, which gave him so many memories, acted as the foundation of why he fell in love with Hip-Hop. "The Boom-Bap" identified with him and his day to day experiences. It was as if the culture had its own way of voicing its likes and dislikes. He was drawn in by the wordplay and witty use of metaphores. Before long he was a stone-cold hip hop junkie and addict to what many at that time said was just a fad. Fast forward years later and it has proven to be more than "just a fad". Although DC is very far from the half-a-double next door to the projects, DC still represents the culture that made him. Recently relocating to Atlanta, Georgia he continued to constantly perform to improve his craft both on and off the stage. He remains committed to giving to the people what he describes as "his duty to his culure". Giving them the best that he has to offer is the least that he could do for a culture that had given him so much. It's more than music for him, it's expression, it's thinking outloud, it's breaking, it's beat-boxing.... It's culture. From music, fashion to entertainment DC wants to give the kids today what the 80’s and 90’s gave him... A Hip-Hop Legacy.
