Tyler , TX (KETK) — For some, its never too late to live out your dream, and that's exactly what Charles Kelly is doing.  Music has always been a part of the Troup resident's life. He was born and raised in East Texas, and at the age of 69 years old, he is finally living out his dream as a musician. "I'm a back woods country boy...Its in my blood, something just popped, and said alright just give it a try," said Kelly. He has been playing the harmonica his entire life, but it wasn't until recently that he started singing. Kelly also plays the guitar, banjo, and dulcimer.

This is something the entire family enjoys, said Kelly, "we live and breath it. I guess my daughter sparked my interest, and all my kids, we grew up, my wife taught my kids how to play and sing and all." He started doing cowboy poetry in his cowboy church. Kelly now writes poetry and music with his wife, and then travels around the area performing his songs at cowboy churches. "I probably spend, its just crazy, probably 10 or 11 hours a day thinking or doing some type of music," said Kelly.

His daughter, Sandie Dickey, works for a recording studio in Arkansas, which has allowed him to make two albums. He has even won some awards on the Indie Music Channel. His newest release is a song named 'John Deere Tractor.' Because of this and his love for music, he plans to continue singing, and record another album.
