Spanish rock singer Merche Corisco is often being described as one the most charismatic singers on the European music scene.
Introducing a fresh new style and attitude to modern rock music, Merche Corisco has been described as warm, honest, direct, emotional, and with an intimacy in her performing.
Born in Madrid 1975 Merche Corisco grew up in Colombia. After coming back, she studied music and graduated from University of Madrid. Shortly after she began touring, mostly at small places in Madrid, performing songs of one of her favourite artists, Janis Joplin. After the release of her first record "Merche Corisco" at Sony (CBS), she started touring all over Spain as well as abroad.
At that time Merche Corisco was already showing fabulous skills for composition, thus reflecting a course and rough feeling overflowing with tenderness and fragility.
She called her second LP "Dulce Kaos" (Sweet Chaos), released by Sony (COLUMBIA) in 2000. Her art became a marvelous symbiosis of consciousness and unconsciousness... Sex and love, anxiety and madness, passion and pain. With a far more complex and elaborated language Merche Corisco has managed to describe all that Chaos teaming with sweetness - and above all demanding and proclaiming freedom and love. Thus her songs "Siento Frío", "Coz y relincho", "Tal vez quizas", "Sobran las palabras" were born, with lyrics that go straight to the point, thus expressing her everyday - if in turn - very particular world.
Her new and trend-breaking CD "Oasis", which was released the winter 2009, shows us a Merche Corisco coming back with even more strength than ever!
On her latest masterpiece, "Oasis", Merche Corisco's eclectic view of reality is captured and reflected in the twelve, exquisitely composed, majestic songs. "Reina de las flores", "Caja de zapatos", "Días sin luz", "Dentro de un cuadro", "Tu formas parte", are only some of the extraordinary works found in this new album - melodies that are sweet at times and heartrending at others, although always with a crystal clear message, in which her personal view of everyday matters such as war, sexuality, obsession, falling out of love are all included, and still absolutely faithful to what the electric guitar represents.
2008 represented yet another break-through for Merche Corisco, as she was invited to take part of the British-Spanish Super Jam project. Thus performing with world famous artists as British guitarist Tony Rémy (Annie Lennox band) and Spanish icon Kiko Veneno.
Later that year she recorded an English version of her hit song "Siempre 4ever", produced by Tony Rémy, at the Remydan studios in London.
