In 2006, two middle school youths started a rock band. Unlike so many others the thought of becoming rock stars was not just a dream. For lead singer Andrew Corkery and lead guitarist Dan Holden becoming rock stars was not a choice, but a destiny they wished to embark on. From that standpoint, there were no other options but to seek out other members and build a band. The product of that search is now the band known as Shadowplay. Due to age and varying degrees of training and musicianship, struggles occurred the first few years. However, they took their criticism constructively and used it to better themselves and their art. They welcomed guitarist George Legatos in 2007, bassist John Sellers in 2008 and drummer Tim Bear in 2009. In just two years their musical progression was obvious. On July 24th, 2009, Shadowplay experienced a true musical epiphany. Twice before scheduled and cancelled by the venue, Shadowplay finally took the stage at a renowned venue in Philadelphia know as Doc Watson’s. They captivated a professionally powerful audience, among which were several music professionals who subscribed to the Shadowplay dream, and now remain part of the management team. Since that date, the band has been swept up into their own windfall, exploding through the local music scene into what is now one of the Mid Atlantic region’s most promising, respected, and sought after acts to watch out for and follow. With over 50 live performances in the past year and half, Shadowplay has graced fan and newcomers alike from the stage of the famous Trocadero Theatre and Love Park in Philadelphia, to historic Sullivan Hall and the National Underground of New York City. They have performed on live television featured spots and commissioned interviews on local college radio, global internet radio, and national public radio shows such as WGBB’s Real Radio Show live from Times Square NYC. There experiences have been varied and profound for them professionally and developmentally. Extrinsically, these experiences translate into an unbelievable amount of public exposure. The release of their first EP kicked itself off with a standing room only Hard Rock Café release show, the EP now in its second press, selling out in less than 4 months. The release of Shadowplay’s first epic single, Ghost Train, has been produced by their new Label, Romulus X Records, recorded at Ark Studios, and mastered by the renowned Maor Applebaum (of Yngwie Malmsteen, Rob Halford fame). The single is set for release in early January 2011, and subsequent major production video/DVD release to follow soon after. Plans for the 2011 include the recording and release of their full-length album, investment showcasing, and national tour kickoff. Constantly playing shows and connecting with people all over the Philadelphia area, the band has begun to make their mark on the world. Fresh out of high school, it is obvious that Shadowplay is something more. They intend on staying together for a long time, and these five awesome rockers will continue to chase their dream until it becomes a reality unlike the thousands of other bands that either give up or do not push hard enough. Their dream is inspire people with their music, and most importantly rock until the end of time.
