A “whiskey-voiced” singer in love with the songs of both the great American and Brazilian songwriters, Carole is an Oakland, Calif., native where her dad was a bandleader in the early days of jazz. She was greatly influenced by him and by the songs and singers of that era. Carole has had casual gigs both in Hawaii, where she lived for many years, as well as in Seattle. She’s performed on a regular basis with two big bands, the Sound of Swing and the Jet City Jazz Band, otherwise known as the Boeing Band. Recently Carole was asked to sing at the Acton Jazz Cafe just outside Boston. The club was listed as one of Downbeat’s top 100 international jazz clubs. One part of her repertoire consists of American Songbook jazz standards, with an emphasis on more obscure tunes. The other part is Brazilian, particularly bossa nova songs from the Brazilian songbook, sung in Portuguese.
