Altavilla is an alt-country band in Tampa with a somewhat unusual lineup — members range in age from 24 to mid-40s. After meeting largely through Craigslist, the group — singer-bassist Te Cool, singer-guitarist Dan Landauer, drummer Adam Revak and occasionally Rob Osenton on guitar and pedal steel — spent the first few months of their existence largely jamming for their own enjoyment and working on their first album, Juniper. It’s a highly polished collection of gritty barroom Americana in the vein of Ryan Adams or Paul Westerberg. “Our collective creativity produces songs that have a very American sound reminiscent of those who have evolved and combined American rock, folk and country,” says Revak. “Our sound finds a center without any one individual needing to steer the ship.”
