- Born into a circus...and a Washington state native, David Fredericks moved to the Bay Area just as the New Wave/Punk scene was starting to find it’s San Francisco footing. He was a founding member of “SPYS”, one of the more recognized New Wave Bands at the time. In 1984 he started the band “SECRETS”. Combining influences from 80’s modern rock, R&B, and Pop into their own sound, the band recorded an LP that garnered roundly favorable reviews. The dominant songwriter in both groups & on his own since 1989 writing & recording at his home studio, as well as with his friend of many years & sometime writing partner, Johnny Colla of HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS. He sang on the HL&N albums, “Small World” & “Hard at Play” and co-wrote “Don’t Look Back” on the latter. He contributed several of his own songs to Colla’s solo album, “Lucky Devil”, released in 2001. Title song credits for “Pineapple Express” are the latest validation. Having recorded 10 songs dealing with saftey issues for children called “Playin’ It Safe” for Child Safety Network as well as a soundtrack for “Keepers of the Water” a Bay area documentary featuring RFK Jr. among others, he has enjoyed several musical arenas over the years
