Bio:
Unconventional. That's me- Erisa Rei. I am a singer-songwriter with a blues/roots-rock flare. I live in Spring Hill, TN, with my husband and our 5 kids. I write music and perform, just because I love it- not because I have an unquenchable thirst for money, power or fame. (Unconventional.) I don't want my fans to like my music for my looks. I want you to like my music, because you can relate to my songs. I'm the real deal. There is no plastic, no cheese, no sugarcane in cellophane. I tell it like I see it in my lyrics and I live it out in my life. (Unconventional.) I believe in artistry more than being a sell-out in order to fit the music industry's mold. (Unconventional.) I often make waves- sometimes unintentional. Either you love me or you hate me. You get the idea... (lots of smiles) :) I have been performing professionally since 2004. Before that time, I received scholarships in music and dance at Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL. My first blues/roots-rock release, "Backwards" EP (2007) won the "Best International Adult Contemporary EP" award in the 2007 Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards. The single from the EP, "Backwards" also hit #17 on the Roots Music Charts in IL in September 2007. I won an honorable mention for the best music of 2007 at indiemusic.com. We moved to TN, from central IL on Memorial Day 2007. Before the move, I played at Christian music's finest festival, Cornerstone. I also opened for the rock band, Since October. My husband's job moved us to the Nashville area. I was worried that I would be insignificant and not liked here in Nashville, because so many talented people are here. But that wasn't the case. Since moving to the Nashville area, I have played some of the best venues that Nashville has to offer. These include 12th and Porter, The Rutledge and a monthly recurring gig at Ri'chard's Cafe in White's Creek, TN. I get asked back to perform almost every time by the venue. I sound just as good live, if not better, as I do on my recorded tracks, or so I've been told... You can buy my music on itunes, Rhapsody and CDBaby, as well as on Reverbnation. So if you like honest lyrics sang by an emotive, raw voice then check out my music and help a gal out by buying a few tracks. Even better, come to a live show. I always try hard to give you a good show. Until then! :)
