I’m a musician who grew up on rock, jazz, soul, and as an adult, learned to love orchestral and choral music. I’m currently involved with four on-going music projects and have a fairly complete studio set up here at my house that I love to work in. I have no prejudice for any musical styles and appreciate all that’s good and sincere in any form.
When I lived in LA years ago with the intent of being in the music business, I was fortunate enough to discover a private music school that was established by Dick Grove, who worked for years in the TV business as a composer. All the teachers he enlisted were also professional musicians working in film and TV. I was very excited and inspired to go there, which I did for 3 years. I wrote for the big band/studio orchestra every week and heard and conducted every note I wrote, learning exactly how it’s done in their business.
Since then my writing projects have been either work for hire, or for myself and have been both on a national and local level. I have also released 3 of my own CDs of original music and am currently finishing up the music and lyrics for a musical production called Bridgetown, set here in Portland Oregon, with performances scheduled for 2011.
I enjoy live performance a great deal, either fronting my own original music group, King Beta, or being a sideman for John Hiatt (legendary singer-songwriter) or “5 Guys Name Moe,” a legendary Vancouver based, oldies R&B, 12 piece show band, that includes the ever fabulous Sean Holmes, with whom I also perform a jazz duo with, as The Sean & Fred Show.
