Background

As a renowned producer, recording artist and employee with such major companies and labels as Duplex records, Leemarks Studios, Head Bangaz Ent. and Red room Records, K FAM RECORDS Director, Mr. Hiram Kamau aka Herum, has directly produced and recorded 11 albums throughout his 10 year career.
I established myself as an artiste (aka “moudib”) in 1998 frequenting talent show events dubbed “show time” at the Florida Night Club (Nairobi). At the time, I was in rap group known as “X-CLAN” comprised of five members. In the same year recorded first chart debut single “Parapampez” produced at Leemarks Studios in Nairobi’s downtown River road.
At the end of 1998, I felt the need to produce this music by myself and at the same time cut the cost of production in my future projects and my passion to be a professional sound engineer/Producer manifested which got me Piano lessons at the Kenya Music Conservatoire (Nairobi) and Sound Engineering and production skills at Leemarks Studios.
In 1999, I established a production house – K FAM RECORDS under which as Head producer/artist I recorded my first 14 track album dubbed “Napenda Rap”. The same year I worked with artists such as: KYM Klan, Nightshift n’ Diggito and Jerome from Tanzania.
I have since produced records/albums and equally actively participated in my capacity as a performing artist under the alias “Herum” with the following Artists: Kantai, Abbas Kubaff, Third Eye- Malawi, KGB – last Born Sons, Jaymo and Ibra da husla-Tanzania, STL - Norway, Faya, Ukoo Flani, Attitude, Kaz, Bamboo, and Wakamba Wawili among others.

In 2008, I founded “a Movement of the Arts – Umojah One – Kenya” catapulted by audio and video productions by himself and other artists involved in the introductory project dubbed “Umojah One the Mixtape vol. 1”.The Mixtape has currently gained a lot of credibility both on the streets and in media.
The talented group of individuals who have united to form this innovative company, combined with industry affiliations and a highly esteemed Board of Directors, will catapult K FAM into the future as one of the industry's leading entertainment companies.
As a renowned producer, recording artist and employee with such major companies and labels as Duplex records, Leemarks Studios, HeadBangaz International and Red room Records, K FAM RECORDS Director, Mr. Hiram Kamau aka Herum, has directly produced and contributed to over Kshs. 5,000,000 of revenue for major record companies throughout his 10 year career.
Moreover, Mr. Hiram has linked and placed projects and music titles with the following television networks and motion picture production companies: Blackstar TV, HomeBoyz TV – Hip-hop Halisi and Shika DVD vol. 2 a Kenyan hip hop feature.
He also provides the essential business acumen to direct K FAM RECORDS in daily finance, accounting and resource management functions.
