Jack First picked up a guitar whilst staying with friends in the deep south of America. Hours later he played his first gig in the town’s community hall, playing what was an inappropriate mess meets a blues jam. This American encounter proved to be inspiring. Back home in Wilmslow, near Manchester, Jack started making primitive recording using a fisher price tape recorder, a cereal box drum kit and a neighbour’s guitar. These early noodlings developed into an electric indie style with influence from bands such as Belle and Sebastian, Sigur ros, Mum, The National, and The Eels.
