Jeff Yantz is a Mid Michigan born award winning singer songwriter with an Americana, Folk Pop sound. He is known for his straight forward style, honest vocals, harmonica wailings and his occasional cutting humor in some of his songs and on stage. He was a founding memeber of the folk rock band One Trick Ponies in 1994, writing, recording and performing all over the state of Michigan. "Jeff's songs are simply well crafted and infectious," commented Ted Hoogland fellow songwriter and the other half of One Trick Ponies which was Review Magazine's "Best Original Band of 1996".
Jeff's new solo EP titled "Dance in the Rain" released in 2011 (Co- Produced with Yantz by Bay City pop master Andy Reed) is his second release as a solo artist and is a statement to his abilty to write a broad range of musical styles. The new EP ranges from folk pop to gritty rock to gospel-like and back again. With a penchant to create songs that are sad and funny at the same time Yantz is getting out to promote the new EP with a full backing band along with doing live solo appearances.
Some of the cast of charaters helping Jeff support his project live in theatres, bars and festivals around Michigan are: Saginaw's legendary songwriter and performer in his own right Bob Hausler on guitar, piano, backing vocals, Bay City's own Pete Socha on bass guitar, along with Yantz's multi-talented nephew Tanner Peltier on drums and percussion.
With a library of original songs spanning 21 years Jeff Yantz has a live performance that feels like he is sitting in your front room playing "his stuff" just for you. Some proof is when Jeff sings in his toe-tapping opening track "Mr. Happy" from the new EP, "I think I'm gonna be happy today, nothin' you can do nothin' you can say!" In these times when our world is pulling itself up by it's bootstaps Jeff Yantz's sad funny optimism just may be the singer-songwriter to make you "smile".
