I finally decided to get off my duff and try to do something with my songwriting in fall of 2008. Since then, I'm nearly up to 60 songs written, averaging 2 per month. Although I live in Michigan, I'm originally from Mesquite, TX. I'm a distant cousin of Buddy Holly and Bud Carter (Carter Steel Guitars) was my step-father. I declare today that the music did not die; it transferred to the next generation. I have Contemporary Christian, Pop, County listed as my primary genres, but I write all kinds of music. I also enjoy writing songs for my little one. Many of my songs are now playing on internet radio stations. "Take a Chance" and "Can You Hear Me Now?" have been selected to appear on a CD to promote and showcase top songwriters. They were sent to music industry leaders and select radio stations. "Can You Hear Me Now?" won a single-song publishing contract from HitSongFinder.com and has just been selected for an upcoming compilation CD that will be on sale late 2011 at national retailers. I am featured on Dream Media Enterprises and have been offered a recording contract with an indie label. I have very few recordings made, however, future recording plans sound like a cross between Owl City and Hannah Montana with a pinch of Weird Al thrown in for fun. I don't know exactly what the future of my music career will be. All I know is that God has given me this songwriting gift and commanded me to use it.
