Joe Vitale Jr. is the son of veteran rock n’ roll drummer Joe Vitale and spent the bulk of his life growing up on the road with acts his Dad performed with, such as Joe Walsh, Crosby Stills & Nash, Dan Fogelberg, The Eagles, and many others. Joe Vitale Jr. has himself toured as a percussionist with Joe Walsh, The Stephen Stills Blues Band and Crosby, Stills and Nash.
After nine dedicated years of writing and recording, Joe Jr. completed his first solo album. The uniqueness of Joe’s sound derives from his use of rock and industrial influences. Joe Vitale Jr. is not only a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, drums, vocals, keyboards, bass, etc.), but is also a digital audio engineer and an award winning director & cinematographer.
Over the past nine years, Joe has also been working for Sony Media Software creating loop libraries (Latin Percussion, Junkyard Rhythms, Organ Donor, and the recently released Vital Drums: The Vitale
Collection) for ACID. Joe presented at the 2007 and 2008 NAMM shows as a key speaker for Sony Creative Software™ describing his work on several music videos he wrote & directed. He also did the digital audio editing work on the 2005 Stephen Stills’ album “Man Alive,” which won Stephen Stills a Humanitarian Award from UNICEF for the song “Feed the People.” Joe also was the digital editor and pre-mastering engineer on the Stephen Stills album, “Just Roll Tape.” He also edited, mixed and pre-mastered the 2009 Stephen Stills video and CD, “Stephen Stills Live at Shepherd’s Bush.”
In December of 2008, Joe released his powerful album, “Dancing With Shadows,” which reflects Joe’s struggles & triumphs over adversity and contains the singles “Fight It Or Self Destruct,” “I Don’t Belong Here,” “Mysterious,” “Never Look Back,” and “Break!” His relationship songs “It’s Not Me, It’s You,” “Beautiful Girl,” “You Make Me Feel Alive,” and the title cut “Dancing With Shadows,” give the album a full emotional range. This is a self biographical album and while secular in nature his faith in Jesus Christ is throughout the album. His belief and faith has kept Joe going all these years.
In September of 2010, Joe released the single “Jingle Jingle,” an industrial remake of the popular Christmas song “Jingle Bells,” and a somewhat comical music video. That same month Joe started working with Smooth Stone Productions™ on a post apocalyptic thriller film called “SAFE” released at film festivals in 2011, winning honorable mention at the Myrtle Beach Film Festival. He composed the eerie, Hitchcock-like soundtrack & was the Director of Photography for the production. For this particular film he used an alternate stage name “J. Ravenwood”. Joe also directed two music videos for rising pop/country singer “Morgan May”, and worked on soundtracks for several other films including “Making Friends” (2011) and “The Teacher’s Lounge” (2011), and began writing his second primary album. His music video “Never Look Back” won Best Music Video at the Canton International Film Festival and won Best Film for “Making Friends,” for which he composed the soundtrack.
In 2011, Joe formed The Joe Vitale Jr. Band to perform his original music from his CD and is currently touring.
