Justyn Dow is a singer-songwriter from Minneapolis, MN. He pulls influence from musicians across the board but is self labeled as a pop/rock artist. Ask him what his favorite band is, the answer just might depend on the day (Kings of Leon, OneRepublic, John Mayer to name a few at the moment). Whether rock, classic or contemporary, blues or hip-hop; parts of each have inspired Justyn in one way or another. “From their compositions to their stories, different genres have instilled different approaches in my writing style” - Dow. As the only child Dow took solitude with his guitar, writing songs as a therapeutic hobby. From heartache to happiness, a simple guitar strum woven with a string of words took the form of a diary. Within that journey, he discovered a passion that has pushed his hobby towards a profession. Two years ago, while in a band with childhood friend Riley Hoffman, the snowball concept of a career in music began to roll. After the two put together a barebones home studio the serious music making started. That is when Dow gained the ability to experiment with the writing process. After spending nearly one year recording, and mutually parting ways with his band, Dow is ready to share those experiments. Justyn Dow’s debut album, the Dim Light Shining EP, was released February 15, 2011.
