Filled with soul and spirit, Laura Thurston began expressing her unique outlook on life at an early age through music and poetry. She began playing in the school band and orchestra at age 9 learning clarinet and viola only to discover years later her true passion for guitar. Journals had filled up over the years and guitar gave her the opportunity to put these poems to song and give them a new life off the page. Laura has composed a plethora of original music about her life experiences so far. Adding harmonica and foot percussion and the occasional kazoo to her solo performance, she gives her songs energy, strength and presence that lift your heart and capture your attention. Through love, loss and reinvention to living in a '95 chevy van traveling the United States for two years, Laura can take you on her journeys with her sweet melodic songs and her enchanting warm voice. Born in the snowy tundra of Rochester NY, to the sunny warm city by the sea, Charleston SC to become a dedicated street musician for some time. Laura has been playing along the east coast for years in venues and on the street, solo as well as with two groups she helped create, Wildwood Flyers and Hick Child Soup. Laura has always believed in living a life that is worth fighting for, thus giving confidence and drive to her passion for fulfilling her dreams and doing what she loves.
