Bio:: Introducing Shawnmarr Zoo: an urban based group from Mississauga, Ontario. The group formed in 2007 and has been growing and infiltrating the Mississauga/Toronto music scene ever since. With backgrounds and a concurred love for hip hop and R&B music, its group members have been working hard since 2007, with a recent addition to the group (Commissioner Twist), to convey the soul of the city and share music which matters. Their music is upbeat and vibrant, compelling its listeners with a sound which applies to people from different walks of life. The group deals with relationships and life’s events in a vibrant and danceable beat. Shawmarr Zoo’s sound cannot be ignored as listeners will find themselves moving along with their music in all vocations such as the car, the club, or alone in their room-there beats are undeniably addictive. With both freestyle and an original collection present in their new mixtape, “Zoo is back”, it is clear that the group is full of diverse members who add their own experiences and flare to the tape. Smythe Dawonder is the most experimental artist in the group, as well as the second producer. His favourite artist is Andre 3000 and his taste in all genres, predominally hip hop and rock, contribute to the groups up-tempo and soulful sound. Worlmyn is the lead producer of Shawnmarr zoo and his favourite genres are hip hop and soul, which he incorporates in his music. This can be seen through the ambient vibe of the group’s music which infuses a heart behind the beats. His favourite artist is Notorious B.I.G. Hundred PNP also admires B.I.G and listens to hip hop and R&B. Through his experience, his contribution to the group allows them to bring alive the voice of the streets through their music. CSC (Commissioner Twist) is the CEO of street label Slumwreck Ent., and the newest addition to the Shawmarr Zoo group. His taste in Hip Hop contributes to the bands overall sound as he is experienced in the business and music aspect to the group. Shawnmarr Zoo has made a name in the music industry through their honourable opening act of Snow at DNA lounge Janurary of 2009. The group has quickly taken over the Toronto and Mississauga hip hop and club scene performing at venues such as Seven Nightclub, Suba lounge, and the Mod Club. Moreover, Shawnmarr Zoo has appeared on TV at “Liquid Lunch” and “As the Beat Goes On” on thatchannel.com. They have been interviewed by Roger Cable 10 and played on college radio across the city. With an extensive musical resume at their hands, Shawnmarr Zoo’s members have comprised a discography with a variety of sounds. This discography includes Smythe the MI City showoff – 2007, M-Town Kingz – 2008, M-Town Hustla meets the Crackshore Comissioner – 2009, and their latest work- Zoo is Back mixtape – 2010. Shawnmarr Zoo has been back in studio recently and has new and promising material in the works for later this year.
