- As a singer/songwriter and recording artist, Jim Fidler is well known for songs he's written such as Downtown Girl, Rhythm of the Goat, Rising of The Moon, Song for Newfoundland, Avalonia, Hospitality's Pavillion and many more. He is also known as Newfoundland's first father of reggae having formed the very popular reggae group Pressure Drop in 1990. As a record producer, Jim has helped realize albums for such people as The Masterless Men, The Celtic Connection, Great Big Sea, Atlantic Union, Gayle Tapper. Most recently he produced an album for New Orleans native Kevin Doucet, nephew of the highly renowned cajan icon Iry Lejeune.
Jim's music spans from North Africa, through the Middle East, across Europe, through the Caribbean and New Orleans and all the way back home to Newfoundland. His most recent solo album is Revolution Time, an all roots reggae release. Jim's latest album entitled 'Up That River' is an eclectic mix. You'll find many influences on this record including pop, blues, reggae, celtic, americana, folk, ballad and probably lots more.
