Malissa Alanna was born on the Island of Barbados August 12, 1995. Her father is Barbadian and her mother is British. She is the middle child of two sisters. From as far back as she can remember, Malissa Alanna has always wanted to be a singer and songwriter. At the young of 9 years old she penned her first song "I Remember". Since then she has written many songs. She has shied away from the genres of music most teenagers would consider singing and concentrated on the country music something very unusual for a teenager born and raised in the Caribbean! With her strong versatile voice, she can sing just about anything from including Hip Hop and pop.
Malissa Alanna has excelled in jazz dance and martial arts which she attained the rank of Senior Black Belt. With everything she does her relentless drive and effervescent personality comes shinning through.
Malissa Alanna launched her singing career on the stage of The Taste of Honey Jam Show at age 15. She received many favorable comments such as this by Mikey Rapley of Kurama Magazine "Another young entertainer was very unique indeed; 15 year old Malissa Alanna is a Country Pop singer/songwriter who sang an original song. I can tell you, even though most Bajans may not love Country music (or so is the belief), I know that there will be quite a few people who will purchase her album when she releases it, including myself."
During a charity event held at the world famous Harbour Lights nightclub in Barbados, she wowed the crowd with her very powerful and distinctive voice. The Bajan Reporter review of the show wrote" Malissa Alanna totally astounded the crowd of all walks and strata of Barbados when she delivered two original songs called "I Remember" and "Popular". As soon as her set was over, the place cleared faster than a sale for iPad 1′s! It's as if the clubbers came to hear her and were happy once they got her mini-concert!"
Malissa Alanna was invited to perform at the 2011 Coscap (Copyright Society of Composers Authors & Publishers (Barbados) Gala held at the Barbados Hilton, and wowed the crowd with one of her original songs "I Remember". Mikey Rapley of Kurama Magazine wrote, "The stunner of the night had to be the country influenced Malissa Alanna, who not only looked gorgeous, but also sounded gorgeous with a self-penned ballad that sent chills down my spine and gave me goosebumps". At the event international recording artist, Shontelle encouraged Malissa Alanna to follow her dreams.
On July 21st, 2011 Malissa Alanna set off on a journey to Nashville where she recorded five of her original songs at the Sound Kitchen Studio, While there she gained tremendous insights into the music industry working with Grammy Award winning writers and producers, She was fortunate enough to even meet with Country music's legend Dolly Parton. Dolly was gracious enough to pose for a picture with her, autograph her guitar and give her some encouraging words.
Malissa Alanna returned home on August 11th, 2011 and has been hard at work on completing her first CD due to be released during the second quarter of 2012. February of 2012 has had many opportunities come her way with Grammy award winning producers, publicist, entertainment lawyers and award winning filmmakers showing an interest in her career. There is no doubt that Malissa Alanna is poised for stardom.
